Sweeping Leaves

There's a stubborn leaf. It's colored like sun mixed with red and it's become one with the gray cement beneath it. It won't come. I stare at it and feel powerless.I have been sweeping leaves for the past 14 minutes. I am the work practice leader at the Center for Transformative Change. On the most basic level, that means I assign clean up tasks to the residents four days every week. We all work on them, silently, for 20 minutes every day.
